SENNHEISER MKH 416 SHOTGUN MICROPHONE KIT — DRY HIRE

The Sennheiser MKH 416 is the industry-standard short shotgun microphone for film, ENG and outside broadcast work — an RF condenser design that stays reliable in humid or damp exterior conditions where conventional condenser capsules can struggle. Its supercardioid/lobar pickup pattern (hypercardioid at low-to-mid frequencies, narrowing further above 2kHz) delivers tight off-axis rejection, isolating dialogue and effects from ambient noise without the mic needing to sit uncomfortably close to camera.

With a frequency response of 40Hz–20kHz, sensitivity of 25mV/Pa and a maximum SPL of 130dB, the 416 handles everything from quiet dialogue to loud outside broadcast environments cleanly, while its low self-noise keeps recordings usable even at lower gain. It runs from standard 48V phantom power via a 3-pin XLR connection, and at just 175g and 250mm long (Ø19mm) it mounts easily on a boom pole, pistol grip or camera-top shock mount without adding significant weight.

Supplied as a kit with the foam windscreen and stand mount as standard; shock mounts, boom poles, XLR cabling and blimp/zeppelin windshields for exterior and windy conditions are available on request. Available as a dry hire from MSG Broadcast for ENG, documentary, outside broadcast and studio voice-over work.
